Piano lessons that inspire

At Animato Piano Academy, piano lessons are more than just playing the correct notes: they’re about learning to be inspired and learning to inspire. By taking music lessons, students learn about critical thinking, emotional expression, and perseverance. They’ll become more confident, disciplined, and self-motivated. Above all, they’ll learn a skill that will stay with them their entire lives.

Dr. Anderson has studied at top music institutions and worked with some of the word’s leading pedagogues. This training has allowed her to cultivate a music studio that centers around quality piano instruction that is both fun and rewarding for students. Dr. Anderson’s pedagogical lineage traces back to Ludwig van Beethoven, making her students the newest generation of a centuries-old musical tradition. The value and expertise that she is able to bring to each lesson creates an ideal environment for learning piano. Pairing compassion and kindness with constructive criticism and motivation, Dr. Anderson imparts upon her students the desire to achieve more and reach new heights at every lesson.

Dr. Anderson works with students all levels and ages, be that beginners with zero musical experience or an advanced students auditioning for conservatories. While methods and materials vary vastly depending on the student and their level, many of the core teaching values remain the same: musical expression, healthy technique, and good practice habits. Beginner students deserve the same level of detail and attention that advanced students receive, and advanced students deserve the same level of kindness and compassion that beginner students receive.

About the academy

The academy is located in South Austin, just off of Slaughter Ln. and Menchaca Rd. Lessons are held on a beautiful Steinway B piano in a quiet, distraction-free environment.

Lesson lengths offered

Lesson lengths of 30, 45, and 60 minutes are offered. Young students may begin their musical journey with weekly 30 minute lessons, but many students will want to progress to weekly 45 minute lessons after 3-6 months of study. Advanced students may take more than one lesson per week.

Expectations

Dr. Anderson aims to strike a balance between fun and discipline. Learning piano is a skill that requires dedication and diligence. Students should practice at least five days per week, arrive to lessons on time and prepared with materials, and participate regularly in performances and recitals. Parental involvement is key, especially with younger students. Parents are responsible for making sure their child has a good instrument to practice on and setting up a regular time each day for the student to practice.

“To study music, we must learn the rules.

To create music, we must break them.”
